Quieter post, clearer doormat.

Come home to a clear doormat.

Back from holiday, you push the door and it won't budge. Takeaway menus, flyers and letters for ‘The Occupier’ are piled up behind it. Shushpost cuts down the junk, so your post is just your post again.

A hallway where a front door is jammed by a huge pile of takeaway menus, flyers and envelopes on the doormat

Write to each sender

Ask them to take you off their list.

It works, but it's a lot of forms, letters, follow-ups and renewals every two years. Most of us never get round to it.

How Shushpost works

Three steps. You only do the first one.

We sign you up to every free opt-out and keep them renewed, so you never have to think about it.

Where each service permits us to act for you. Royal Mail needs a signed form: we plan a reminder about four weeks before expiry, with your details filled in. Fundraising requests cover charities you select; open electoral register reminders help you check your preference. Automatic submissions and reminder emails are awaiting setup. These opt-outs reduce junk mail, not all of it.

  1. Step 1

    Snap it.

Take a photo of any junk mail with your phone.

  2. Step 2

    We contact the company.

We hunt down the right email address and ask them, in writing, to stop sending you post — on your behalf. Where the law gives you the right to object to direct marketing, we use it.

  3. Step 3

    We keep on it.

We manage the free opt-outs, track renewal dates, and chase senders who ignore you. Royal Mail needs your signature each time.

Greener doormats

Junk mail has a carbon footprint too.

Every leaflet is paper, ink and a delivery round. Cutting it down means less printed, posted and binned. Your dashboard tracks your own savings.

2.4 kg

of paper through an average letterbox each year

2.2 kg

of CO₂e to make it — before printing and delivery

22 t

of CO₂e if 10,000 homes cut it out

576

trees' worth of paper for those 10,000 homes

Estimates: 120 items a year (DMA/JICMAIL 2025), ~20 g each, UK Government paper carbon factor, ~24 trees per tonne of paper.

Our honesty promise

We'll dramatically reduce your junk mail. We can't promise zero.

Some leaflets and ‘Occupier’ mail can't legally be stopped, and we'll always tell you straight.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Is this legal?

Yes. Under UK data protection law you have the right to object to direct marketing, and the opt-out services are official schemes. We simply do the paperwork on your behalf.

What can't you stop?

Mail addressed to ‘The Occupier’, some unaddressed leaflets from local businesses, election mail, and anything from organisations you already have a relationship with (like your bank or energy supplier). We'll cut down the rest.

Do I need to sign anything?

Yes: a simple authority so we can act for you. It takes about a minute, on your phone.

How long until I notice a difference?

Some changes are quick, but some opt-outs take up to 4 months to fully kick in. We'll show your progress on your dashboard.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contracts, no fees, no awkward phone calls.

What about my data?

We only use your details to reduce your junk mail. We never sell them, and you can ask us to delete them whenever you like.
